Brandi Huzzie was born and raised in Miami, FL, under the star sign Sagittarius, with a strong Baptist upbringing. It was in the church where she cultivated her acting skills, winning nearly every oratorical contest from Pre-K through 5th grade. Despite her passion for acting, she faced rejection from every drama school in her district and didn’t consider applying to Juilliard.
After accruing college credits, Brandi auditioned on a whim during her senior year and was accepted into an acting conservatory in New York. Although that opportunity didn’t pan out, it sparked a relentless pursuit of her talent and the acting business. She trained in New York and Los Angeles for two years, while working a career job for twelve years to make ends meet. During that time, she was featured in student and independent films that premiered at film festivals across the nation, as well as a few commercials that she never saw.
The greatest leap of faith came in 2018 when she quit her job to perform in Shakespeare productions in San Francisco for three months. Cast by a Juilliard alum, this experience provided the validation she needed. After tasting the life of a working actor, Brandi realized she couldn’t return to her previous life in LA. She returned to Miami for quality time with loved ones and devised a new game plan to pursue her dreams. Within a month, she booked an audition that landed her in her first trailer, acting opposite Michael K. Williams and directed by John Leguizamo. Although the scene ultimately ended up on the cutting room floor, it solidified her sense of belonging in the industry.
